MJ Makeup & Beauty was never just about makeup.
It was about creating something for myself — something that let me be present with my girls, fuelled my passion, and helped other wāhine feel confident, cared for, and seen.

I started this business when my eldest, Hailey, was little — offering makeup for friends and bridal parties while juggling full-time work and motherhood. The real shift came after the birth of my second daughter, Lainey. That’s when I took the leap, went all in, and began building MJ into the studio it is today.

As a māmā, I know how hard it can be to make time for yourself. That’s why I’ve always been intentional about creating a space where māmā feel welcome, safe, and supported. Crying pēpi? Bring them. Running on zero sleep? I see you. No judgement, ever.

MJ started with makeup — and a lot of big dreams squeezed between school pick-ups and baby naps. Over time, I trained in lashes, brows, tanning, and cosmetic tattooing to offer a full experience grounded in both skill and heart.

This studio is built on connection, care, and the belief that beauty should feel like home. It’s not just about looking good — it’s about finding time to reconnect with yourself, even in the middle of the busy.

More than anything, I want my daughters to grow up knowing they can chase their dreams. That they can build something beautiful, lead with kindness, and define success in their own way.
